Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Confidence Day 5
Are you feeling more confident and sure of yourself?
I hope you are. And I would love to hear from you so please comment below or find me on facebook and share how your week went with me.
Today's Topic is.....
Being Positive
When someone asks, "How's it going?", stifle that urge to whine or complain. Smile and tell them how great you feel and how awesome things are. Don't be a "Debbie Downer". I firmly believe that you should "fake it till you make it"- if you aren't feeling confident, then pretend you are! The more positive you feel, the better you will feel about yourself. I promise!
When you find yourself starting to complain to your co-worker in the lunch room, stop your self and change the subject to something positive. Or try to look on the positive side of the situation, think about what you have learned from the experience or what good came from it.
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” ~Winston Churchill
Here is an article I found at Tinybudda.com on how to Train yourself to be more positive in 5 Steps:
I am constantly striving to see the positive in every aspect of my life. But it’s not always easy.
My dog is currently suffering from a disease from which she will never recover. My mind is still trying to adjust to my relatively new schedule of running Positively Present full time. My wallet is thinning out as I march forward on my entrepreneurial ventures. And, as I get older, I find myself moving in different directions from some of the people I’ve spent a great deal of time with.
My life—and all of our lives—is filled with challenges that make it very difficult to be positive sometimes.
However, I know that choosing to be positive has helped me the most in terms of becoming the person I want to be. Even when things are difficult, I know that being positive—and striving to make the best of whatever situation I’m in—really does make even the most challenging situations easier to bear.
More often than not, I find myself veering toward a positive attitude. (It’s something I never would have done years ago!) I firmly believe that this is because I’ve trained myself to be positive.
It doesn’t always come naturally for me—sometimes it’s a lot of work—but I’ve taken five steps that make it so much easier for me to see the good in life.
Step One: Believe a Positive Attitude is a Choice
This step was hard to take at first. I thought that people were either positive or negative (and I was in the latter category). I used to blame my negativity on all kinds of outside forces—fate, experiences, parents, relationships—but never really stopped to think that I could choose to be positive.
Teaching myself that positivity is a choice has been one of the greatest things I’ve ever done for myself.
Now when I find myself in a bad situation, I know that it’s up to me to find the good, to be positive regardless of what’s happening around me. I no longer point fingers and place blame. I realize that everything happens how it happens, and it’s up to me to choose how I want to feel about it. I am in control of my attitude, and no one can take that away from me.
Step Two: Rid Your Life of Negativity
If you want to live a positive, joyful life, you cannot be surrounded by negative people who don’t encourage your happiness.
As a negative person, I attracted negative people. When I decided to make the change to live a more positive life, I had to rid my life of the most negative influences in it. No one is perfect—and perfection isn’t the goal when it comes to positivity—but there were people in my life who were consistently negative, who constantly brought me down, and I had to stop spending so much time with them.
This, as you can imagine, wasn’t easy. It can hurt to distance yourself from people—even when you know they aren’t good for you or your current lifestyle.
In addition to removing negative influences from my, I also had to get rid of some of my own negative behaviors, such as drug and alcohol abuse. I had to take a step back and examine which behaviors were good for me and which were not.
I learned to focus on the positive things I was doing—such as working on my blog and cultivating new, positive relationships—and let go of the negative ones. This process was not easy and, to be honest, is still ongoing, but I know this: It’s hard to live a positive life when negative people and behaviors continually pull you down.
Step Three: Look For the Positive in Life
In every person, in every situation, there is something good. Most of the time it’s not obvious. We have to look. And sometimes we have to look hard.
The old me was content to sit back and just glance around. If I saw negative, I went with that feeling. I didn’t want to look harder or think too much about the good. I found it much, much easier to sit back and just accept what I saw (which was usually the bad).
Now, when I’m faced with a difficult or challenging situation, I think to myself, “What is good about this?” No matter how terrible the situation might seem, I always can find something good if I take the time to think about it.
Everything—good and bad—is a learning experience so, at the very least, you can learn from bad experiences. However, there’s usually even more to it than that. If you really take the time to look, you will usually find something good, something genuinely positive, about every person or situation.
Step Four: Reinforce Positivity in Yourself
Once I started thinking more positively, I realized I had to reinforce these thoughts and behaviors in myself so they would stick. As with any sort of training, the more you practice, the better you get—and, yes, you can practice being positive.
The best and easiest way to do this is to be positive when it comes to who you are. Tell yourself you’re awesome. Tell yourself you look good. Tell yourself you did a great job at work or raising your kids or whatever it is you do.
Be honest with yourself, but do your best to look for the good. And, whatever you do, don’t focus on the negative. It’s okay to not like everything about yourself, but don’t focus on what you don’t like. We all have positive attributes, and it’s up to you to remind yourself of them every day.
Step Five: Share Positivity with Others
Not only do you need to be positive with yourself for this training to really take effect, but you need to be positive with others. You have to share your wealth of positivity with the world.
The best way I’ve found to do this is quite simple and basic: Be nice to other people, no matter what. Tell someone s/he looks nice today. Tell someone s/he did a great job on that presentation.
Tell your parents or children (or both!) how much you love them and how great they are. When someone is feeling down, do what you can to cheer him or her up. Send flowers. Write notes. Don’t gossip. Be kind to all living things.
All of these things sound basic enough, but for someone like me, they didn’t come easily.
I never wanted to see the good in myself and, therefore, didn’t want to see it in others either. I used to be critical and condescending. Now I strive to be encouraging and supportive.
I try not only to treat others as I would like to be treated, but I also try to consider how they would like to be treated. People appreciate positivity, and the more you share it with others, the more you are practicing it your own life.
When you start feeling like the idea of being a positive person is daunting, remind yourself that all it takes is one small step in the right direction to move yourself toward a more positive attitude.
Believe in yourself and remember the most important lesson of all: A positive outlook is a choice that you can always make.
Please share with us on how you trained yourself to be positive today or how you plan to and what your biggest challenge will be in doing so! Comment below or share in the Facebook group!
Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Confidence Day 4
Don't take things personally
This is something I have to remind myself of daily. Quite often we assume people are thinking badly about us or judging us for some reason or another. BUT to be honest, those people are too busy thinking about what others might be thinking of them to be worries about what your hair looks like today.
It's True.
We are selfish creatures. And she we might notice things here and there about other people but generally we are too busy thinking of our to do list, what we are having for dinner or over-analyzing what our co-worker said to us at coffee time to really pay enough attention to anyone else.
Remind yourself that you don't need anyone's approval. If you're especially sensitive to how people treat you and you often overreact, you might have a strong radar for rejection. You worry that you're doing something wrong if you pick up on any kind of displeasure, and you want to fix it. But just because someone isn't happy with you doesn't mean you've done something wrong. In many cases, it means that person isn't happy with themselves and expects you to fill in the blanks (which is impossible).
Stop taking compliments personally, too. If you base your self-worth on how often people compliment and validate you, then you're allowing others to decide how you feel about yourself. If someone compliments you, it's no more personal than a direct insult. They're simply calling it how they see it, and that may or may not be accurate--only you can be the judge of that. If someone compliments you, that doesn’t make you a better person, it makes them a better person because they're taking the time to be supportive and encouraging. Your value remains unchanged, because it's something that comes from within.
So today try not to take anything anyone says Personally, no matter what they say. Compliment or ctiticizm. Let it all roll off and remember that as long as you are doing the best you can and being the best you can be then no ones elses opinions or judgements can effect how you feel about you.
Remain confident in yourself.
Have a great day!

Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Water Day 3
5 Ways to Drink More Water
1. Don't purchase any drinks. When you are out at a restaurant, don't order a soda. Keep it to just water. Don't purchase vitamin water, soda or juice for your home, because lets face it if the soda is in your fridge chilling your less likely to choose water.
2. Drink at least one glass of water for every alcoholic drink you consume. (good for preventing a hangover too!
3. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to drink a glass of water every hour. Even if you only drink 6oz every hour you will consume 48 ounces in an 8 hour workday!
4. Purchase a water bottle that holds the amount of water you need to drink in a day. Or one with the ounces listed on the side so you know how many to drink each day. My Shakeology shaker cup holds 25 ounces so I know that I need to drink just about 3 per day of water.5. Add mint leaves, slices of strawberries, lemons or limes to a pitcher of water; serve chilled. Keep a jug in the fridge so you always have great tasting and great looking H2O available.

Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Confidence Day 3
Who are you comparing yourself to?
Is it healthy or are you reaching for totally unrealistic ideals that are sabotaging your own happiness and zapping your confidence?
I have a goal of the type of body I would like to achieve for myself but I'm not gawking at 6 foot tall bean pole women with not a curve on their bodies. I look at women who have a similar body type to my own and strive to achieve that because I can't change what I can't change and I am realistic about what my goals are.
Be confident in who you are flaws and all. These are the things that make you unique and loveable.
Speaking of goals.... Do you set goals?
Goal setting is a good thing to do for anyone. If you do not have goals in your life then you do not know where you are going. Tell me this: if you leave from work with the goal to get home, how much time will you make until you get there? Maybe 30 minutes? 1 hour because of the traffic? But what happens if you leave from work and don’t really know where you want to go? When will you probably get home? 3 hours later? 5? 7?
It’s the same things with goals.
When you don’t know where you want to go, you either won’t get there at all or it is going to take you a very long time to get there. And, I for one, love to to achieve things as quickly as possible, don’t you?
Do you want to waste time and effort on something that could be done in 5 minutes. Of course not!
You want to do as many things possible in as a short time frame as possible! This means that you have to set goals in every area of your life. Every area! Work, personal life, social life, health and fitness, and everything else that is important to you.
I used to scoff at people who set goals, but now I am starting to see the benefit of setting goals and working towards them. It has built my confidence in myself, I know now what I am capable of and I know I can achieve great things with a little planning and taking small steps each day towards the bigger goal!
Start today and set goals that are very clear and have a certain deadline on them. Don’t say "I will do this this year”, say “I will sell 10 cars until 30 December 2012″. Put numbers in all your goals because that is the best way your brain works. He recognizes numbers and will help you achieve your goals because he understands deadlines.
Set a goal and then work backwards from there. Deconstruct your goal.
How will you achieve that goal?
What steps do you need to take to get there?
What strategies will you employ?
Put check points in place along the way to see if you are achieving your goal.
If you want to lose 20 pounds by January and you have 3 months to do that in.
You need to figure out if that is achievable, then make a plan for how you are going to do that. Are you going to start going the the gym 4 days per week, purchase a home fitness program and meal plan?
How will you stay motivated?
Then plan certain check points. For example if you plan to lose 20 pounds in 3 months you need to lose 6.7 pounds per month. After month one you should reassess if what you have been doing for the first month has helped you achieve your monthly goal or not. Then if you need to make any changes to your plan you can at that time.
Better to have check points and make a course correction along the way then stay the course for 3 months only to find that it's not working at the end of it.
Setting goals, making steps towards your goals and eventually achieving them gives you confidence.
What goals do you have for your self?

Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Confidence Day 2
I've been there. For years I would get a compliment and point out something bad about myself or how I did something wrong. I have since learned to accept compliments with a simple "Thank you". It takes practice but it's a good skill to learn.
Try this for the rest of the week:
Learn to take a compliment (and keep notes). How many times does someone say to you, "You look pretty" or something similar? What's your response? Women struggle with accepting compliments. We make excuses- "In this shabby dress?", "But my hair's a mess!', etc.,etc. We rarely just say thank you. So try this for a couple of weeks. When someone compliments you, say thank you. Then write it down. Keep a list of the kind things others say about you- and not just physical things. Every compliment!
Next, I want you to give compliments- There's just something reciprocal about compliments. You know when you do something nice for someone else, it makes you feel good too. Be generous, but sincere with compliments, and remember, these women struggle too, so let them in on your new secret about keeping track of kindness!

But there's one other crucial component of health that just doesn't get as much attention: Water.
We've all experienced what it feels like when we don't drink enough water. We're groggy, hungry and typically just feel off. But did you know that not drinking enough water can affect your skin, eyes, weight, hair and nails, too? Staying hydrated is so important. Whether you drink warm water and lemon each morning or find other ways to drink more water, the facts below will likely motivate you to boost your hydration

Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Clean Eating Day 1
Here is your Clean eating post for the day. Below I have listed my TOP 10 tips to eating real unprocessed foods. Throughout the week I want you to try to stick to this tips and keep them in mind when you are planning your meals.
Also please feel free to explore the clean eating recipes I have posted here on the blog.
Here are my top 10 tips to eating Real food:
- Eat whole, fresh, unprocessed foods.
- Whole foods typically don’t have a label telling you that they are healthy for you. Think of an apple… An apple doesn’t try to convince you that it is healthy so you will want to buy it, but the foods that claim to be healthy “Low Fat”, “Low Sugar” and the like are usually overly processed and when one thing is removed they will add others in order to make it taste good! Choose wisely.
- Stop eating when you feel full: Listen to your internal cues and stop eating when you feel full.
- Michael Pollan says instead of using our internal cues to know when to stop eating, most of us “allow external, and usually visual, cues to determine how much we should eat.” Think back to your last meal…did you stop eating when your gut told you you’d had enough or when your plate was clean, the package was empty, or the T.V. show was over.
- Never cut any food group out of your diet, including carbohydrates.
- So many diets are based on cutting out one food group or reducing the amount of something. My suggestion is, rather than cut out a food group, cut out anything man-made (in a lab). If you don’t recognize the ingredient, chances are your body won’t either and it won’t know what to do with it.
- Need a sweet treat? Dark chocolate is packed with healthy nutrients. Moreover, it improves mood!
- All grains consumed must be 100% whole-grain.
- Read the labels, as many products claim to be whole wheat, but they must be 100%, not 50/50, to be considered real food. Also make sure you read the ingredients list on the back of breads, buns and crackers…
- No more than 10 ingredients - Avoid any and all packaged food products that contain more than 10 ingredients, no matter what ingredients. When buying packaged foods, read the nutrition labels carefully.
- The more ingredients in a packaged food, the more highly processed it probably is. Note 1: A long list of ingredients in a recipe is not the same thing; that’s fine. Note 2: Some products now boast, somewhat deceptively, about their short ingredient lists. Be sure to check out that short ingredient list and be mindful of the other tips listed when scanning the list.
- Beverages should be limited to coffee, tea, water, and milk (only naturally sweetened with a little honey or 100% pure maple syrup). Limit yourself to one cup of juice per week and NO soda!
- As far as sweetening your beverages, all sweeteners (sugar, honey, maple syrup, raw sugar, brown sugar, etc.) are high in calories and low in nutrients. The artificial sweeteners that have no calories are just chemically created imitations invented in a lab somewhere…YUCK! So no matter what kind of sweetener one uses I hope that it is, first of all, not an imitation and second of all, used in moderation. Best to stick to 100% pure maple syrup or honey.
- Do not eat any food products that are labeled as “low-fat,” “lite,” “light,” “reduced fat,” or “nonfat.”
- Scared of whole milk, cream or full fat cheese? Don’t be. Trust me, the low-fat diet fad is just that… The trouble is, it’s ingrained in so many of us that low fat is better for us! It’s really not! Fats in things like sour cream and yogurt are replaced with hydrogenated oils and the cream in ‘whipped cream’ and ‘coffee creamer’ are replaced with corn starch. Usually if they take something out (like fat) they add something in to keep people satisfied (like sugar). Sugar is the enemy, not Fat!
- No refined or artificial sweeteners including (but not limited to): white sugar, brown sugar, raw sugar, sucanat, splenda, stevia, agave, corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, brown rice syrup, and cane juice.
- Foods and beverages should only be sweetened with a moderate amount of honey or maple syrup. (See reasons above in beverage note #7)
- No refined or hydrogenated oils including (but not limited to): vegetable oil, organic vegetable oil, soybean oil, corn oil, canola oil, organic canola oil, margarine, and grape seed oil.
- Instead, choose real Butter, olive oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, and flax seed oil.
Little Push 5 Day Challenge: Crazy Confidence Day 1
Please listen to this Podcast my Chalene Johnson today on Crazy Confidence!
I don't care who you are, confidence is something we can all have a little more of.
A confident person is someone who is comfortable in their own skin, it has nothing to do with physical traits and it's actually not that person who grabs everyones attention at the party. The confident person is self assured and doesn't care what other people think of them.
Can you think of someone in your life like that?
Confidence is built with experience. So first you need to try something you have never done before. You just have to feel the fear of doing something new, making mistakes and getting better each time you try to do that thing. Be Bold.
Remember your first attempt won't be perfect, but it's good enough for your first try!

Remember your first attempt won't be perfect, but it's good enough for your first try!
Let's say you're a decent cook, but you don't venture beyond making quick meals for your family. Now, what if you were to invite friends over for an elaborate, six-course dinner? Sure, you've never done that before, but you wouldn't be starting from scratch; you'd be building on skills you already have—taking what I call a reasonable risk. Controlled leaps of faith give us a chance to feel proud of ourselves for having the guts to try something new. Keep in mind...
Taking reasonable risks sets us up for success not just once but repeatedly. No matter the outcome (maybe one of your dishes didn't turn out as expected), the attempt itself represents an accomplishment that can be built upon. Next time you'll aim even higher, think even bigger—and before long making bold moves will start to feel like second nature.
By reaching, stretching, and trying new things, you'll expand your life experiences and, in turn, your confidence.
Today's Little Push Challenge is to take risks- big or small. It doesn't matter what kind of risk, but it is essential to take yourself out of your comfort zone. We always lose confidence when faced with unfamiliar situations, so we tend to avoid them. But I am encouraging you to do those things that scare you. Wear a bright color or pattern. Join a gym or take a Zumba class. Sing in your choir. Join a book club. Heck, jump out of an airplane! Once you have completed the task, you will swell with confidence. You will be proud of whatever fear you've overcome, and you will probably discover that you enjoyed yourself in the process!
Comment below on what risks you took this week and how it felt to overcome the fear.
